Today the festival of light is celebrated across the country and are greatly enjoyed by people of all walks of life in the world. It is a festival of lights, joy and victory of good over bad, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance”.
Deepavali or Diwali means “a row of lights”. This year we celebrate Diwali with a difference, because all of us have been forced to remain indoors due to Covid -19 pandemic. Keeping aside the external celebrations, let us not forget that no virus can diminish our inner light. So let us keep aloft the light in our heart and in our homes and welcome the New Year, by listening to our own hearts and realising the stark reality of Covid 19 situations.
You are a light. Never let anyone – any person or any force dampen, dim or diminish your inner light. All the lights of the world cannot be compared even to a ray of the inner light of the Self. This feast of light marks the moment when Lord Rama and Sita and his brother Lakshmana returned triumphantly to their home in Ayodhya after the Demon king Ravana had been defeated.
UK PM Boris Johnson wished the Indian brothers and sisters saying, “this celebration of light is so meaningful because it is the moment when Lord Rama and Sita, their way lit by many thousands of lamps, returned triumphantly to their home, after the Demon King Ravana had been defeated. So “Together we will overcome this virus, just as Diwali teaches us that light triumphs over darkness”.
We believe that Goddess Laxmi resides in only those homes where there is cleanliness . As we clean our homes to welcome Goddess Laxmi, let us clean our hearts too from negativity, so that Devi Laxmi can reside in our heart. Therefore resolve to let go of bad habits, negative thoughts and wrong doings and wrong friends. Let us be more loving and less egoistic and invite god in our life. Because you are a light and needs to shine for others. As the flame of a lamp always points upward, let us look forward to the coming year with a renewed health, sense of purpose and passion.
