In the story from MAHABHARATHA, the Pandava and kaurava princes were being educated under the guidance of sage Dronacharya. This included both scriptural knowledge and a study of the martial arts.
As time passed, one day Dronacharya wanted to test his disciples. So he placed far away on a tree a parrot, whose eye was supposed to be the target. One by one he called his disciples and asked one by one to aim at the parrot. Curiously he asked them what they could see infront of them.
One after the other, each of the princes responded saying, that he was able to see the parrot as well as the tree, its branches, the clouds behind and everything else surrounded their vision. Hearing this response, the sage asked the princes to stand behind without shooting the arrow.
Finally it was the turn of Arjuna, who when asked the same question, replied that he could see nothing other than the parrot’s eye.
Dronacharya was pleased and allowed Arjuna to shoot the arrow as expected and hit the target.
In our everyday life, the chances of success are maximum when the efforts are focused on our priority and on the techniques adopted to achieve that priority. There are very few today, like Arjuna, are absolutely focused in their efforts.
Let us not lose our focus by being divided in our decisions and by going in the wrong direction.
To be focused in life :
- Write down your goals
- Feed your brain with motivation stories and positive thoughts
- Exercise regularly
- Meditate in silence
- Practice continuously your learned techniques.
